Blogging on vacation

Voice memo_6Picture the scene … you’ve got your feet up, a cold drink in your hand, palm trees are swaying in front of you, your mind wanders and shucks, you remember that you forgot to write your blog post for the week. You promptly fall out of your deck chair and wonder how the heck you’re going to get it done. Well, mobile tools have your back. Here are some suggestions for tools you may want to take on vacation with you. It all starts with your smartphone.

Firstly, there’s the Voice memo app which can come in quite handy for emergencies like these – or even for you to record your shopping list if you’re so inclined. You could verbally record your blog, send it to the office and have someone transcribe, edit and post it to the website.

Secondly, you could use Dragon Speech recognition software to dictate your blog into an email. Cheryl Strege, President of The Partner Marketing Group, used it a couple of years ago when she broke her wrist. Sometimes you get some pretty entertaining results with the speech recognition piece but it’s simple to use and it’s effective.

Thirdly, you can also use Transcribe which will also take your audio and transcribe it directly into text. Clean it up, attach it to email and your post is done.

You probably have many more suggestions, and we’d love to hear what works for you. Leave a comment and share your knowledge.
